DIY Hatervision for my bodydropped 1967 Chevy C10: Finnegan's Garage Ep.124

You asked for it and so I'm giving you a Christmas miracle--new content on my 1967 Chevrolet C10 truck. It's been far too long since I updated you on my IRS, supercharged LT4-swapped, adjustable suspension, sequential six-speed hot rod hauler but the time has come to make that final push to get it running. In this video I'll show you how to make a custom dash mounting bezel for Holley's new 12.3" touchcreen dash. I'll give you tips on making a template when you can't access the backside of a dashboard and mounting this incredible gauge system/data-logger/efi tuning system.
And don't worry, we will continue to work on the C10 and uploading new content on this badass pickup!

I regret not buying the bigger screen for my C10 but I wanted to keep stock gauges and have the 6.8 float in front of the stock instrument panel. My C10 project - us-first.info/player/video/aLuDhG-HhoZ6jmA.html

My finnegan, this may have been mentioned already but I can’t be arsed to read all the comments, but my top tip, use a small block of aluminium instead of the dirty hammer to do your tracing, it works great 👍

I was just about to say, It would be cool if you could configure the gauges from your computer and save it on a stick to upload it.. then you explained that you can do that.. Really cool system. They thought of everything !

15:27 the transfer tool is designed so that you can use the top as your negative for tracing onto what you need to cut. then you can transfer the shape directly against the surface and not have the possibility of holding the pen at a weird angle and messing it up!

So here's a stupid question. If you can't reach the dash when you are strapped in, why do you want a touch screen you won't be able to reach?

Man, I don't remember doing those welds on the cage, behind the dash, but it sure looks like I did them. I'm infamous for forgetting to turn the gas on until I've completed my first weld.

That gauge cluster is mint. Will it monitor boost, too? Seems like a critical feature, especially if you have a taillight ever go bad in this thing.

No offence dude. But that's a half assed install. Going to be a pain in the ass to see in the sun. Should have frenched it into the dash and angled it so its looking to your face. Not your chest.

Those dashes get ran in 16v systems so I doubt 18v is out of spec. And you should put a capacitor in line for the dash so it doesn't have to reload a few times when starting. I believe that's what Cleetus did you leroy a while back.

Nice progress. U might consider provisions for a hood to shield the display from sunlight in the real world. Perhaps by making just a trim bar around the top and half way down each side that you can mount with studs and keep making it bigger till it does the job. Had that problem in mine.
